Cutie pies and butterflies

Another weekend (and beginning of the week) has come and gone.   Lots of fun (and work) for us and our boys.

Spring has sprung on the square in Gettysburg.  I need to get a picture with my real camera before these are gone.

Checking out the butterflies at Taylor's Greenhouse, pretty cool!

This guy has always loved bugs and he was pretty into the butterflies

Holding the caterpillar

This weekend was cold and checking out the blooms at Taylors was about the only thing that looked/felt like spring!

Helping Daddy stack wood
Pap Pap left the 4 wheeler here...score for the boys!

What is wrong with this picture other than Jace's pants being off....yes, that's right a fire burning at the end of April because it was so cold!

These two:)

Brennan playing catcher last night at tball!  The gear probably weighed more than him!

Oh Jacers...Last week when I was putting this boy to bed he told me "I'm a get older, I wanna be Daddy.  I wanna go work with Daddy."  He's so sweet.

The boys artwork from the past couple of months at school.  I love the footprint tractors!
Brennan's work

Check out some of his work....kindergarten assessments are soon, I think he's ready:)

Finally got a haircut over the weekend and needed it "gelled" this morning

Opening Day, Daffodils and Trout fishing

It was another busy week.  We finally had some real spring like weather and Saturday almost felt like summer.  Brennan had a soccer game on Saturday followed by opening day for t-ball.  He wasn't too into soccer this week but did pretty well at t-ball.  He only had one ball come to him in the field but he got it and threw it to first.  He did well hitting and running the bases.  He was also one of the kids playing in the dirt when he was in the field:) and he's not too into having to wear a hat the whole time.

Our daffodils are in full bloom.  I can't thank the prior owner of the land enough for these beauties.  We are really enjoying them and I see others enjoying them as the slow down when they drive by.  Jace has now learned to pick the flowers with the stem on!

Today, Nate took the boys to do a little trout fishing.  They caught about 10 and as you can see below it looks like they had a good time.

In between all of these other activies the boys continue to enjoy playing in all of our dirt.  The builder can't get the grass in soon enough for me but the boys will definely miss the piles of stone, sand and dirt.  Trying to keep them clean is quite a job!

Last week Brennan got up out of bed came downstairs and helped himself to rice krispies, with milk!  We found him in the morning sleeping on the couch with the phone nearby.  He had downloaded a couple new apps and played games before conking out!!  On the topic of food he also informed Nate that" Miss Lindsi (his daycare teacher) doesn't cook seafood so I am going to talk to her about serving crabs, shrimp and lobster...because I love lobster!"   Oh my, what are we going to do with this boy!

Jacer's likes to see how far he can push and then turn on the charm (he gives kisses right on the lips and "big bear" hugs).   Sometimes you just have to laugh, like last night when Nate said something and then signed and Jace mocked him just perfectly!  He always wants to help...doesn't matter the chore, putting clothes away, sweeping the floors and especially outside....his little legs move so fast to keep up with Daddy.  He talks non stop and I love hearing the sentences that he comes up with (e.g. "I not can't do.")!  If Jace tries to say Tiff, he says Tuff...could there be a better nickname for me...Zippy friends how did you not come up with this nickname for me in college but my 2 year old nailed it?!

Our daffodils are in full bloom.  to the prior owner of the land for planting these beauties. There are at least 4 different types which is neat. We are really enjoying them and I see others enjoying them as they slow down when they drive by.  Jace has now learned to pick the flowers with the stem on!

I seemed to cook, cook, and cook some more this weekend.  I tried several new recipes and recommend these: A version of this crockpot tortellini I added mushrooms, and didn't include the spinach and meat (not sure that I used as much broth as this recipe calls for and I added some additional spices since I didn't use meat).   These mushrooms.   This  baked chicken and served with Perfect Potatoes (Pioneer Woman recipe, you can't go wrong with anything that you cook of hers, everything is great and easy to make).   Tonight's dinner was this jambalaya without the chicken.  Yummy but it did take more than the time shown in the recipe. I served it with cornbread because that is Brennan's favorite, the boys ate over 1/2 of the pan of cornbread themselves!

Headed to the fire (one of the many piles of brush that we have burnt)

They made their own campfire ring with stones from the fence.  They worked so hard to get it just right.

I can't believe that me of all people didn't have marshmallows for smores...they had to use little ones.

There's not much cuter than toddler legs in shorts:)

Our little t-ball player.  So cute!!

 Brennan's first time at bat!

Ready to go fishing

I love these next two...they have so much fun together (and with Daddy)
