Happy Fall!

It seemed as if we were having the perfect fall weather this weekend.  Yesterday was gorgeous and today started out the same, but of course when we were in line for the hay wagon ride to take us to pick our pumpkin this afternoon it started raining!  We didn't make it out to the patch to get our pumpkin and instead had to settle for one from the farmers stand.  We went to Smithfield Farms in Aspers.  They have a corn maze and some other activities.  I'm not sure it's worth the entrance fee unless you really want to do the corn maze.  We might have been better off to have headed south to Baughers where we went strawberry picking in June.  Yesterday, we stayed in Fairfield and checked out Pippinfest, which is a big deal for Fairfield.

26 weeks

26 weeks, just over 3 months to go!  At this point, the network of nerves in the baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before and he can now be able to hear our voices. He's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air. And he's continuing to put on baby fat. He now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches  from head to heel. I've been feeling a little tired, due to lack of sleep...I just can't seem to get a good nights rest.  I guess it's good practice for 3 months from now when we'll be getting up every 2 hours.  I feel like I'm huge, maybe that's why Nate is referring to me as Big Momma again!

Fall is here

This weekend marks the official start of fall.  Where did summer go? Brennan spent most of the weekend with all of his grandparents.  Nana and Pap Pap took him to Delgroso and he had fun riding all of the rides.  Nate and I went to Baltimore on Saturday evening to catch up with my college friends, it was so nice to see everyone!  We also had some time without a helper to get some things checked off of our to do list.  Hopefully, we'll have Brennan's room completed soon and can get started on the nursery!

24 weeks

24 weeks already!  At this point, the baby is growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long, he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

Day out with Thomas

Today we took Brennan to see Thomas the Train at the Strasburg Railroad.  He was excited to see the blue engine and to be able to ride the train.  Thomas is a very popular attraction...lots of kids with their parents and grandparents were visiting today.  Along the way we saw horse and  buggies and plenty of farm country.  There was a train museum nearby for the real train enthusiast and also a motel that had train cars as rooms (not even sure what to say about that).

Brennan has had a big week.  Last week after the beach he started at a new daycare.  All seems to be going well except for the drop offs which aren't so great but they weren't good at the prior center either.  It only took them a couple of days to comment on his expansive vocabulary:)

 The last couple of nights he's wanted to play baseball.  He probably hit the ball off of the tee 50 times last night.  He's pretty good!  He told me "I'm a good baseball teamer!"  Tonight he also played a little soccer. Check out his skills.

Labor Day Weekend

We spent the long weekend in Ocean City, New Jersey visiting with some good friends.  We had fun on the beach, catching up, and eating way too much!
